One of my favorite things to do is to sit on the balcony of a nice condo over looking the sea. I love hearing the waves of water splashing on the sand, wave after wave in the perfect harmony of nature.
As I think about those calming waves of the sea I am reminded all too well that news in America is sort of related. NO, it does not calm me. But it does come in waves. As I write this the Travon Martin murder trial and George Zimmerman’s acquittal are getting all the news. All of the familiar players are riding the wave. President Obama, the NAACP, Al Sharpton and others are trying to keep the wind behind the wave as long as possible. And of course, as long as the story holds interest, every news network will keep talking about the story. But, in a few days another wave will come along and the same loud mouthed surfers will jump on it and ride it as long as the cameras are rolling.
Remember Newtown and the Sandy Hook school? That was a very big one! The voices were loud and angry and the President led the way. We Americans were going to have gun control and have it quickly! What happened? Not much. Just more attention grabbing headlines, goofy elected officials whining, talking heads making outrageous claims and not much more. Then the next news wave and it’s pretty much history.
In a few weeks the Zimmerman murder trial and the related frenzy of news hounds, threats of murdering Zimmerman, and the silly speeches of Hollywood types will die down and they will jump on the next story.
You have to understand the way liberals think. You see, in their world, saying you care about a person, or an issue, is to them the same as actually caring. People who really care about causes do something more than talk. The other important thing is to understand and accept is that their arguments do not have to even come remotely close to being logical, and in many cases even factual, for them to embrace them with loud, flowery, verbiage. Oh, wait, there is a third thing to consider. If some dopey person on TV, (especially if he or she has British accent), says something, even if it is completely untrue, if it fits the liberal agenda of the day, millions of vacant minded people will repeat it over and over verbatim. I see it all the time.
So, don’t expect a race war. Don’t expect George Zimmerman to be tried for violating the civil rights of Travon Martin. It’s all political posturing. Obama and his administration can’t say NO to Rev Al or the NAACP. They will do what they always do, put on the show and finally do nothing.
Just hang on, another wave of big news is coming! The only question is how many days will it be. Let’s see, Paula Dean made it two or three days, so it doesn’t take much of a story for the liberals to run down the beach to catch the next wave.
